The tread pattern is inspired by the Scorpion™ XC RC model and focuses on two key features: higher average speed on straights and fast lines, as well as better lateral grip in off-road corners.

SpeedGRIP Compound

The SpeedGRIP compound is a gravel-specific formula, derived from Pirelli’s experience in the World Rally Championship, where speed and grip on and off-road are essential. This formulation is based on the polymer matrix of the SmartGRIP compound , designed for mountain biking, while reducing rolling resistance. Gravel needs demand both speed and road performance. That's why Pirelli engineers have adjusted the compound for better energy efficiency, while maintaining minimal compromise on grip. The result is a predictable compound that delivers solid performance on and off-road.

Pirelli engineers have skillfully combined technologies derived from road-specific reinforced coatings with MTB tires to create their most advanced gravel tires. Performance is achieved through the use of special fabric reinforcements and layers thicker rubber in specific areas of the tire. On-road, the majority of punctures are caused by sharp objects penetrating, while off-road punctures are often caused by cuts in the sidewalls. This is why the TechWALL Gravel uses a durable 60 TPI fabric around the entire perimeter of the tire, while still providing a smooth ride.
